Bansko is the best Bulgarian ski resort, having a modern ski centre and facilities. The resort has excellent snow conditions with snow cover from December till May, offering runs and tracks for all type of skiers. Summer
During the summer months the Bansko area offers a variety of outdoor pursuits including walking, climbing, horse riding, fishing, White-water rafting, swimming and cycling. There are over 130 lakes within the Pirin Mountains.

Bansko Geography
The town of Bansko lies alongside the river Glazne, part of Mesta River, and is in the North Eastern part of Pirin Mountain. Bansko is just 160 kilometres away from the capital Sofia. Pirin Mountain has an Alpine like character with its highest peak Vihren at 2914m. Bansko is located 925m above the sea level, and its skiing area is on 2000-2600m. Ski pistes are located in two main ski centres Chalin Valog (1100-1600m) and Shiligarnika (1700-2500m). They are approximately 10km above the town on the northern slopes of Pirin, and are easily accessible via a 25 minute Gondola lift. The total length of marked slopes is over 70km.
